“The system, now installed, recognizes accomplishments, provides flexibility and anticipates savings thet can redound to the benefit of customers. A sample test result showed a 0,5% increase in fuel efficiency, which translates to a fuel saving of $18,000/month. The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited feels confident that this installation will help us to achieve our overall goal and we are of the belief that other 2-stroke engine power plants can secure similar technical and financial benefits”.

“Versatility, in terms of the operational load and different fuel oil qualities of the engine, affects operational costs. The Blending on Board (BOB) solution optimises the overall lubrication performance of large bore diesel engines. Blending-on-Board is an attractive solution that addressed our need to adjust the lubrication oil, according to changing conditions.”

“We now have Blending-on-Board systems (BOB) on all the new buildings built 2019-2021 (8 vessels, X62 engines) installed from the yard. In addition to these we have also retrofitted 6 vessels with MC50 engines with BOB during 2020. The results we have seen on the vessels with BOB are clean piston crowns, low feed rates, low wear, and cleaner system oil”.
